Pourquoi Katutura
NAMIBIA' presidential election: 20th November 2004 In Katutura, a sprawling township in this capital city, long queues of people stood from the early hours in their eagerness to vote. "Many people came at three o'clock. I came at 3.30am but there were already people here," said Willem Shimwooshili. Hundreds of people, many immaculately dressed, waited patiently outside a community centre on the outskirts of Katutura where newcomers to the city have built thousands of corrugated iron huts on the rugged hillsides. "I want the government to encourage the people who are voting to pick up the country,"said Matthew Makire, who like many residents is jobless. "We need a clinic here - the clinic is too far. It is too difficult."
The ruling Swapo party presidential candidate Hifikepunye Pohamba, waves at his supporters during the election rally in Windhoek, Namibia. (Themba Hadebe, AP) Pohamba wins Namibia election President Sam Nujoma's chosen successor, Hifikepunye Pohamba, won an overwhelming victory in elections in Namibia, gaining more than 77 percent of the vote, results from more than half of counted ballots showed on Friday. Pohamba (69) the current lands minister, is to become Namibia's second president since independence from apartheid South Africa in 1990.
My prayer: little people are waiting to meet their leaders face to face and have a good talk with them! So help us, dear Yeshuah!
